Holiday 2008 - Inverness, Scotland

The first holiday pic. The Cairngorm Mountain range, Britain's newest National Park. Breathtaking views and a bit chilly too.

It is beautiful, but looks a bit ‘brisk’ to me with the snow on the ground. Hope you’re keeping warm …

Hi Storyteller
The holiday was great and not all chilly. Hope you've been enjoying the tennis, alas we Brits have failed again.

The two British gals did well in their first rounds and Andy Murray looked great until he came up against Rafa Nadal. And what about the 14 year old Laura who won the Juniors Championship? This can't be failure ... can it? Seems pretty hopeful for the future to me ;--)

Did you enjoy the Final Storyteller? It was gripping stuff alas we had to endure the rain too as we are about 30 miles away (it's like October weather instead of July, roll on the Summer).
Our record for nurturing the talent of the young isn't great where any sport is concerned. I fear that as a Country we build up winners to such extremes and then hound and criticise if they fail to meet our exacting standards. I pray that Laura isn't caught up in the tabloid expectations of both playing ability and personal life but know how difficult it can be to escape the many pitfalls.
Maybe I am overly cynical.

I did enjoy the final immensely ... though I admit I was hoping (against hope) that Roger would pull out one more Wimbledon win. It didn't surprise me that Rafa took the title however. I hope this rivalry will continue for a long, long time.
